Rotorua Central - Our history

Once upon a time… the Rotorua Central site was once the Railway Station and Rail Yard. In 1993, the land was returned to Pukeroa Oruawhata Holdings Ltd, a subsidiary company of the Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust as partial settlement of the Wai 94 Claim (the land was originally gifted in 1882 specifically for a railway station and rail line).

In 1995 work began on the demolition of the old Railway buildings and yard and development of the first Retail Shopping Mall in Rotorua!

Since then, the site has continued to develop to become Rotorua’s most popular shopping destination!

Trade Central - Our history

Originally part of the gifted lands for use as Railway corridor – the land was returned in 2005 after Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust agreed to buy the old Telecom depot building established on the block. The land was then placed in a new company, Pukeroa Properties (No 2) Ltd.

In 2012 Pukeroa Properties (No2) Ltd, developed the site with Mitre 10 Mega as the anchor tenant.
